We’re aware that for patients in England, prescription charges are not exempt for transplant medications, meaning some kidney transplant patients are required to pay prescription charges for their vital post-transplant medication.

The NKF is aware of an e-petition calling for a change to the medical exemption criteria for post-transplant medication. If you, or members of your KPA, are affected by prescription charges, you may wish to consider signing the e-petition.

If the petition reaches 10,000 signatures, the Government will respond. If it reaches 100,000 signatures, it will be considered for debate in Parliament.

However, it is something we support, and we wanted to make KPAs aware of it should you wish to sign or share it within your own networks. There is no expectation for KPAs to support or sign the petition if you do not wish to.
